Chan Kan Kee* began as a stall in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, three generations ago. Present owners Eliza and Rebecca Chan’s grandfather then moved to Hong Kong and set up as a hawker in Heung Hing Lane, known to an older generation of Hong Kongers as “Chiu Chow Lane”. In 1997, Chan Kan Kee became a proper restaurant at 11 Queen’s Road West. Recently, it moved to a new address at The LOHAS, Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong. Frenchman Philippe Dova interviewed the sisters for his column in China Daily. And discovered their famed Lu Shui Goose was created 72 years ago in 1948.
