Oversea
Oversea started in Kuala Lumpur. Founder YU Soo Chye began work as a kitchen help and had to wash plates and bowls, clean tables, make tea and other chores. In 1977, at just 27, Yu was promoted to chef at a restaurant in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, when the Taiwanese one resigned. That same year, the proprietor of a small restaurant in Jalan Imbi, was looking for someone to take over the business. Yu grabbed at the chance and Oversea was born.
